LTM offer repairs and routine servicing on all makes of electric chain hoist.

Training

Next Motor School dates: 19th & 20th October 2011

The course will cover the following:

  • General electrical theory
  • Overview of the Lodestar & new LoadGuard® Hoists
  • How to operate a Hoist correctly
  • Hoist assembly and disassembly
  • Maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and fault finding on faulty hoists
  • Health & Safety
  • Questions & Answers

Each school offers approx. 16 places which will allow two people to work on each hoist. (Please note: only two people from one company per school).

The course is presented in a hands-on, no-nonsense, practical manner providing a comprehensive overview of the CM Lodestar hoist. It will familiarise users and specifies with operational theory, design philosophy, safety aspects, internal workings and trouble-shooting methods of the Lodestar.

Please note: the course is designed around maintenance rather than operation of hoists. It offers the chance to get dirty and completely strip a hoist down to its component parts and then re-build and operate it, thereby unravelling the mysteries of the machine in the process! A full set of manuals and course notes is also provided.

The Motor School package includes lunches for two days, light refreshments during course hours, evening meal, training and instruction materials and Certificate of Attendance on completion of course.

Total Course Cost: £350.00 per delegate plus VAT.
We will accept payment by credit card, cheque or with a purchase order if you currently deal with us.

To Apply: Please contact LTM on 0151 649 0467 or by email for a booking form.

NB: Hotel accommodation is not included - we can however suggest a number of suitable Liverpool hotels.

Quote markHi Dan,
I made it back in one piece. Nice meeting you and everybody there as indeed, it is difficult to put a face on somebody. The school was very useful, We all improved a lot on the lacks of knowledge we had before and it proved quite educational to rip a hoist completely apart and get it back together, ending up without spare screws or anything AND getting it to actually work...
Good servicing a hoist is one thing, selling it another, and you know I was already a big fan of the Lodestar, be it the normal one or the direct control one.

Best regards and greetings to the LTM staff.Quote mark

Motor School January 2007

first Motor School of 2007Lift Turn Move (LTM) staged its second full CM Lodestar Motor School in January 2007.
It was attended by 16 people from the UK and Europe, representing numerous industry sectors, and including leading hire companies PRG, DBN, A-Tech, Skan PA, and fabric and draping specialists, J&C Joel.
The course was presented by LTM's Dave Ward and John Jones.
John Jones comments, "There's a stronger demand than ever for Motor Schools, and we're responding to that others who have presented them in the past are no longer doing so, and there's a definite need for these courses". He adds, "All our clients want their staff and regular crews to be comprehensively clued up on the maintenance issues".
The numbers were deliberately set at 16 places. LTM's past experiences have proved that this is the ideal number to allow a one or two person presentation team to give everyone sufficient individual attention. It's also a nice 'friendly' number that works well in LTM's specially designed new Training Room.
Topics covered included stripping and rebuilding motors, troubleshooting, common problems, the effect of rain and other environmental elements, double braking and operational practicalities like the correct use of chain bags.

first Motor School of 2007Dave Ward concentrated on the more technical subjects, while John Jones discussed general motor, rigging and industry issues and product support.

The course costs £350 each excluding travel expenses and accommodation.

John has noticed a real change in attitudes in recent years compared to earlier motor schools in which he's been involved, "It was clear that people really want to learn, and they keep coming up with plenty of interesting, well thought out and relevant questions".

Motor School October 2006

Motor School Lift Turn Move (LTM) has staged its first full at base CM Lodestar Motor School, which was attended by 16 people representing many sectors of the industry. The course was presented by Dave Ward and John Jones.

Jones says, Theres a stronger demand than ever for Motor Schools from our clients, who want their staff and regular crews to be fully clued up on all the maintenance issues. Wed wanted to run Motor Schools for some time, but we had to wait until the current series of building modifications and expansion was completed before we had the space.

Numbers were deliberately limited to 16 places. Jones explained that their past experiences proved that this was the ideal number to allow a one or two person presentation team to give everyone sufficient individual attention. It was also a nice friendly number that worked well in LTMs new training room.

Many leading rental companies were represented including Star Events, ELP, DBN, Summit Steel, JustLite, PRG Birmingham and UK Rigging. Venues such as Wolverhampton Civic also attended

Topics covered included stripping and rebuilding motors, troubleshooting, common problems, the effect of rain and other environmental elements, double braking and operational practicalities like the correct use of chain bags.

Dave Ward concentrated on the more technical subjects, while John Jones discussed general motor issues, rigging and industry issues and product support.

LTM kept the cost of the course as contained as possible, with attendees paying £300 each plus their travel expenses and overnight accommodation. Clients who spend over £10,000 with them received a discount and LTM treated everyone to a night out on the town, demonstrating traditional Scouse hospitality.

Jones says it was nice getting back into real training, they noticed a real change of attitude this time around compared to previous motor schools in which he has been involved, It was clear that people really wanted to learn and they came up with plenty of interesting, well thought out and relevant questions.

The next LTM at base Motor School is planned for early 2007.

"A well presented Warehouse, well organised"

"Never eaten so much food"

"Great night out and what a friendly bunch of guys"

"Entire course, content, organisation and staff excellent"

  • Would you like 1, 2 or 3 pickles with that?

No, not those kind of pickles. We often get requests for custom kit from our customers, and more often than not, the request comes with a deadline. This was no exception, Ric, our newest addition the the LTM team (you may remember him from Summit Steel) recieved a request the other day for a triple pickle. Thats right, not one or even two, but three! Pickles are different from controllers in that it is essentially one handset that controls more than one hoist. This can be useful if you already have power coming to the hoists and you just need a portable handset that you can take to the hois...
